I'm Mike Dawson from New Zealand. I've used Taju now for 2 years in Pakistan to assist us in everything from planning, visas as well as guiding us through his beautiful country. We recently came to Pakistan to kayak the Indus River and he was awesome - Tajammul knows the area really well, is trust worthy & goes the extra mile. happened to be kayaking the Indus river in Gilgit-Baltistan , Pakistan. And our guide was Tajammul Hussain, young men from Gilgit. Lived his whole life there, so he know the ways like nobody else... he speaks great English , Hurdu and the local dialect from Gilgit. You can have deep conversations with him , and his knowledge of the mountains and the area is just mind blowing and very helpful. He is very trusty and honest. Always trying to get us the best price and giving us helpful advices on the ways to approach people, buying’s…. Never felt unsafe during the whole trip . and Taju was there for us the whole time. Whatever we needed he would take care of it, he is simply the guy you want to have when going to a foreign country like Pakistan where you don’t understand the language or what’s offensive and what not. After a successful trip down the Indus, he knows everything it takes to pull out a safe expedition, what are the bad spots and portages…. What are the good sites to camp, where to eat so you don’t get sick, and the rythim it takes to make it in time. I will be back in Pakistan and the first member of the team will be Taju of course, he is an indispensable piece of the puzzle when putting together an expedition to the Indus river, I can only be thankful for his services during our trip and very happy now to consider myself his friend. I’ve traveled all over the world and I never had a guide but with Taju and his driver Dildar I was completely happy and relieved to have them !! Thank you taju for making this trip to Pakistan the best one yet !!

Fairy Meadows Tour

Fairy Meadows named by German climbers (German Märchenwiese, “fairy tale meadows”) and locally known as Joot, is a grassland near one of the base camp sites of the Nanga Parbat, located in Diamer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. At an altitude of about 3,300 meters above the sea level, it serves as the launching point for trekkers summiting on the Rakhiot face of the Nanga Parbat. In 1995, the Government of Pakistan declared Fairy Meadows a National Park.

Fairy Meadows is approachable by a twelve kilometer-long jeepable trek starting from Raikhot bridge on Karakoram Highway to the village Tato. Further from Tato, it takes about three to four hours hiking by a five kilometer trek to Fairy Meadows. The grassland is located in the Raikhot valley, at one end of the Raikhot glacier which originates from the Nanga Parbat and feeds a stream that finally falls in the River Indus. Since 1992, locals have operated camping sites in the area.

At the end of the trek you will be driving on the 4137 meters high Babusar pass and descent down to Chilas, which lies, on the bank of Indus River. Visit the ancient Rock carving of to 6th century A.D. Trek up to the enchanting green pasture of Fairy Meadows, lies on the foot of North face of Nanga Parbat 8125 meters. Explore the scenic Fairy meadows covered with thick high altitude pine and birch forest. Day hike to the Base camp, offered the magnificent view of biggest mountain face in the world.

K2 BC & Concordia Trek

K2 Base Camp and Concordia Trek gives great views of four 8,000m peaks and is thought by many to be one of the best high mountain treks in the world. Some of the wildest and most dramatic landscapes on earth are found in the vast, rugged Karakoram Range situated in Northern Pakistan. Remote and spectacular, the icy peaks and vast Glaciers of the Karakoram offer unparalleled opportunities for adventurous trekking. The 62km long Baltoro Glacier is Pakistan’s number one trekking destination. Seven of the world’s twenty-five highest peaks rise above this glacier, while the lower reaches are surrounded by some of the world’s highest granite walls and spires.

The Baltoro Glacier meets the Vigne and Godwin-Austen glaciers at the huge natural amphitheater of Concordia. This is one of the most spectacular mountain campsites in the world. The huge pyramid of K2 only 10km distant dominates the view and creates a very special atmosphere. Our programme allows three days in the upper reaches of the Baltoro Glacier to savor the majesty of this unique place. The highest point reached on this trek is the 5,650m summit of the Gondogoro La. This is a challenging and technical route, which links the high glacial basin of the upper Baltoro with the green Hushe Valley to the south. The view from the summit is one of the most overwhelming mountain panoramas in the world, with four of the Karakoram 8,000m peaks close at hand.

 

The route to K2 goes through the Baltoro region of Baltistan. There are several high peaks which rise from the world’s largest temperate zone glacier. Only the highest or more prominent peaks have been named or climbed. An incredible nineteen of these peaks tower over 7600m while four of them are 8000ers..

Thus, K2, the second highest mountain in the world towers majestically above Concordia with the sweeping Godwin Austin Glacier offering an ice highway towards it. It was first climbed by Italians in 1954.
